LORENZO NORIEGA FUNERAL SUPPORT
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Kim, I am Lorenzo's daughter and I am fundraising for his funeral expenses. The cremation was suppose to be covered by the city, but sadly the social worker at UMC completely disregarded our request for a mortuary and we were unexpectedly thrown this expense. We also are raising money for his obituary in the El Paso Times, mass service, and burial. I appreciate any amount donated. I thank you with all of my heart.
Here is my dad's obituary:
Lorenzo Noriega was born in El Paso, Texas, May 29th, 1941. He attended Austin High School, joined the Navy and served overseas. He then returned home and married, Guadalupe Estella Noriega, where they were together until he passed away. Lorenzo worked for his family-owned restaurants: Hamburger Hut (including 2, 3, and 4), and Taquitos.
Lorenzo was a loving father and was always there for his children. He is survived by his son, Michael Paul and daughter, Kimberly Denise Noriega. He always encouraged them to do everything they dreamed of and served as their role model. Lorenzo was always battling heart issues and diabetes, but he had such resilience. After he recovered from his emergency Quintuple bypass, he enrolled in the EPCC Law Enforcement Training Academy just to see if he could pass the physical, which he did. He was never afraid to try new things and that lives on in his children today. You will often find Michael venturing off to any amusement park, riding the scariest rides in the world. He always supported his children, he once proudly walked the streets of Castro in San Francisco in honor of his departed son, Joseph Lawrence Noriega.
Lencho loved his sports. You would often find him and his daughter at basketball and football games. His favorite NFL team was the Patriots, and he was never afraid to show up at the Sun Bowl with his Patriots blanket. He enjoyed music and was always attending concerts. His favorite memory was rocking out to “(I Can Get No) Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones, when they first came to the Sun Bowl, with his daughter. He loved showing her all the rock legends in their glory.
Lorenzo also had a deep appreciation for animals, and is survived by his last cat, Porthos. They had such a special bond. He believed pets are family. You often would find him caring for his cats as much as he did his children. He instilled this in his children, and you will find them donating their time to help animals. He taught his children that all life deserves love and respect and if you see an animal on the road take the time to help it and/or move it to safety. His care for the living was rare.
Lorenzo was a devoted Catholic and spent many days of the week involved at St. Pius X Church. He loved being a missionary, attending service, participating in the groups, but his favorite was being in the Church’s annual Christmas play.
In his last few years, you would find him volunteering for the Church’s food bank where he would hand out food to the families in need during the pandemic. While most elderly with chronic health conditions stayed home, he sacrificed himself to help others till as long as he physically could. Lorenzo left this world peacefully on November 18th, 2023. He was deeply loved and will live on forever in our hearts. He is survived by his younger brother, Louie Noriega, who runs the El Hut Restaurant.
