Hi, my name is Candice, I am trying to raise funds for Loreli Sakach (my mom) to help pay bills. My mom is a hairdresser, and has been for 40 plus years. Being a hair dresser she there is no sick leave or PTO for her, there is no time off she can take, and she is always working very hard to pay the bills. Which I’m sure you can agree is already hard in today economy. A couple weeks ago my mom was walking her new puppy Wyatt whom she rescued days before he was about to be out down. While on their nightly walk my mom tripped over a piece of side walk that was sticking up over an inch. My mom was in a lot of pain and called 911 who took her to the hospital, and determined her knee cap was broke in 4 places. She hard to wait two weeks to get surgery were she was in pain, and unable to work. Unfortunately after surgery she is unable to bend her knee, get out of bed (even to go to the bathroom, she needs help to get out of bed and get to the bathroom), or make any money to pay any of her bills for at least 6 weeks after her surgery. We are only 3 weeks in as of right now since surgery, and 5 weeks since the accident. With this being an unplanned emergency she didn’t have time to save up, and is almost out of her emergency funds. Although her kids are doing their best to support her during this, we are still in need of help so that she can pay all her bills, until she can get back on her feet literally and figuratively.
Those of you who know my mom knows she is not one to just sit in her bed all day, she is always on the go. When she’s not doing hair she is sewing, working on some craft, or outside doing some yard work. Being a route 91 survivor she lives every day she is given to the fullest and is always giving back. This whole experience has been excruciatingly painful both physically, and mentally.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and super helpful. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hear my moms story.
Update: 2/6/24 my mom went to the doctor yesterday and is healing nicely, she is able to start putting 20% weight on it and start bending it again. The doctor is working on signing her up for physical therapy. We are still on a long road to recovery, but we are excited to be getting placed.
Note from my mom 2/21/24:
Started PT last Friday
I am able to start putting weight on my right leg and start trying to bend it. It’s wound so tight like a super tight rubber band
Never thought my leg would be this tight
Hope to be driving at some point ha ha ha
Day by day, a little better
I miss all of my friends and clients
I miss seeing y’all face-to-face
