Lorelei's Life Flight Lifeline

Donation protected
On March 21, 2022 my brother Justin Barrow and his wife Meagan took their 6 year old daughter Lorelei to the emergency room in Caliente, NV. For a month she had been battling intermittent stomach pain doctors had contributed to constipation. A week before this, they had been in the emergency room due to her having more pain than normal. Doctors determined she had a significant amount of stool in her intestines and gave her magnesium citrate to help with this and sent her home. Unfortunately, the magnesium citrate didn't help; Lorelei was left screaming and withering in pain at home, so Justin and Megan did what any parent would do, taking her back into the emergency room demanding help and answers. The ER doctor, Dr. Avery ordered x-rays and bloodwork; upon receiving the results, he decided that Lorelei needed to be transported to Las Vegas, NV. Lorelei was airlifted by Flight for Life to University Medical Center, such a brave girl!

At UMC, x-rays, an ultrasound, and a CT scan were completed; Lorelei was diagnosed with intussusception in her small intestines. Basically, her small intestines were folding into themselves. They told Justin and Meagan her condition would resolve itself, gave Lorelei some pain medication, and sent them home with Lorelei still in a lot of pain. Over the next 24 hours Lorelei was unable to get any relief, her pain was unbearable. Once again, Justin and Meagan decided to take her back to the emergency room (for the 4th time in 1 week), after demanding answers, more tests were ran, including more x-rays, bloodwork, and ultrasounds. Her white cell count was up to 22,000 with little to no fever and she had started vomiting even though she had very little food in her system.

Surgeons were consulted and requested to do an exploratory surgery after fearing part of her bowel might be dead. Once inside the surgeon, Dr. Chang found significant damage to Lorelei's small intestines, her bowel was dying everywhere. The intussusception in her small bowel was approximately 30 cm., this was removed along with her appendix, due to the damage hand stitching the ends together could not be done so they stapled them together in hopes they would hold. As of now they are holding strong!

Lorelei is in ICU, at this time it is unknown how long she will remain in the hospital. What is known is the medical bills are stacking up and life flight is not covered by what insurance they do have. Justin and Meagan would never ask for help right now, they are just incredibly grateful to have some answers for Lorelei. Any help is greatly appreciated!
