Hello, my name is Lorenzo but you may know me as Loredw. I have been a cosplay photographer for 3 years.
At the beginning of our return journey from the event cosplay photo event Pixelmania, held in Lubomierz Poland, my car was hit at an intersection by another speeding car.
Everything happened in a fraction of a second, and luckily everyone involved was not hurt.
Hitting the nose of the car was enough to destroy several components, for an estimate damage of 8,000-10,000€, that is currently being verified at an official Dacia car center.
update: the new estimate is 20,000€.
Being an international issue, the involved insurance already stated it will be a very long process, and at the same time the shock and linguistic barrier put us in a difficult position, favouring the other car. Therefore it has already been decided I must pay upfront for my own fixing.
Needless to say, this is a devastating blow to my personal finances, to my ability to join events and pursue photography, and at the same time a huge logistic issue to handle, since we are currently stuck in Poland waiting for a way to return home, fix the car, or have the car towed to Italy, and all other issues related to being far from home.
As I am writing, I am still not fully processing what happened. Like many opening a crowdfunding, I never thought I'd had to do it. Furthermore, I have always been the kind of person that has a hard time accepting help.
Pixelmania has been my favourite event, gathering people from all around the planet, and has given me the opportunity to take photos very dear to me. It has made me the photographer I am today.
This year my team was composed by me, my girlfriend joining as cosplayer for the first time, and three other returning friends.
To me this was a dream come true, putting together all my close people to create something beautiful and memories together.
The goal of this fundraiser is to cover at least partially the expenses to fix the car and our return home.
Thank you very much.
