Our beloved aunt Lorease was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. For those of us who know her, we know that she is an incredible woman. She is energetic, joyful, loving, compassionate, and always puts her friends, family, and those around her, before herself.
She completed an exhausting radiation treatment, two rounds of chemotherapy, and seemed to regain some of her energy. Heartbreakingly, after a much needed reunion with family and friends in July 2022, she suffered a major stroke and her cancer has progressed to stage 4.
We must now accept the devastating reality that our dear Lorease is being called home to be with her mother and father. She is currently in hospice care where she is being treated with the best of care and love.
Lorease is a lover of all life, she is a mother to many, and a friend to everyone. Lorease is one of the strongest, most selfless people we have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it.
She is well known in Santa Barbara as a vibrant and nurturing soul who loved to dance, including African dance and Hula, practice hot yoga, and a devout Christian attending Greater Hope Baptist Church.
She LOVES children. We all know her as a “baby whisperer”! She has worked as preschool teacher for Santa Barbara School District for over 20 years. She is a mother to two amazing boys (now young men) and a wonderful daughter who has a 12 year old son . She recently became a grandmother to two beautiful baby girls. Her grandchildren are the light of her life.
Recently, she also became the guardian for her sweet 12-year-old relative, when he unexpectedly needed a home. This is just one example of the Lorease we all know. She exemplifies, “Love Thy Neighbor,” giving her all to those around her, whether friends, family, or strangers.
Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Lorease. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. All donations will go towards covering medical expenses, hospice care, funeral costs, and directly to her two grandchildren, and the young relative in she and her husband’s care.
Everything we can do to help and surround her family with love and support so they can focus on spending time with Lorease and each other. Please spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
