Help Us Protect Lord Howe’s Sharks
At Lord Howe Island, one of the world’s most pristine marine environments, something is shifting beneath the surface.
Galapagos shark are increasingly interacting with fishers—taking fish from lines in a behaviour known as depredation. As this increases, so does the risk: sharks being misunderstood, blamed, and potentially harmed.
But right now, we don’t actually know why this is happening.
We’re Raising $20,000 to Find Answers
This project will investigate a simple but powerful question:
What are these sharks eating—and could their diet be driving this behaviour?
Where Your Donation Goes
$10,000 – Scientific Analysis
Stable isotope and fatty acid testing to uncover shark diet

Why It Matters
Without understanding the cause:
Sharks risk being unfairly targeted
Decisions may be made out of fear, not science
A delicate ecosystem could be impacted
With your help, we can:
Support evidence-based solutions
Reduce human–shark conflict
Protect these incredible apex predators
Choose Understanding Over Fear
This isn’t just about sharks.
It’s about how we respond when humans and wildlife collide.
Every donation helps us move from fear… to understanding… to protection.
