Lorca Family Loses Everything In House Fire

This morning our family experienced a devastating fire that displaced Angelie (Bubbles), Noel, Noriel, Karl, Kodie, Editha Armada and Lina Lorca. They lost everything except the clothes on their back. They have been living in this home for more than 2 decades and this is where both Karl and Kodie grew up.

 

My name is Ghina Lorca and I am a daughter in law of the Lorca family. The unthinkable nightmare occurred to my family on the early morning hours of October 15. The family was awaken to smoke, heat, and fire in their home. Everyone escaped but unfortunately, my mother-in-law, Lina, suffered severe smoke inhalation injuries and she is currently at an ICU burn unit at LA County General Hospital. She is not doing well and we are praying that she will improve/stabilize in the next few days. I plan to provide regular updates in the coming days of her situation.

To those who don't know the Lorca family, they are active members of the Eagle Rock community. Karl and Kodie both attended St. Dominic Catholic School and Eagle rock High School. Both boys excelled academically and were involved in various extracurricular activities including basketball, flag football and the track team. Karl is now attending nursing school at Mount St. Mary’s University and Kodie is a sophomore at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles and part of their volleyball team. Angelie has been a nurse for 20 years. She has worked for Huntington Hospital in Pasadena for 17 years and currently works for USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. She was a first responder during the pandemic and she continues to help save lives to this day. Noriel and Noel delivers medications to nursing homes and homebound patients. Editha Armada is Bubble's mother who is a retired teacher/District Supervisor from the Philippines. My mother-in-law, Lina worked in MGM Hotels in Las Vegas and is now retired to enjoy her life.
