Hello all. My name is Ashley Cobb and my aunt Loralee Scofield (D-D) was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma.
Loralee lives with her two sons (Sean, 15 and Collin, 12) in Fishkill, NY. Her two boys are her WORLD although it can be challenging at times. Sean has Autism and Collin was born with a traumatic brain injury. Loralee is their voice and always makes sure they get what they need!
In November, she discovered multiple lumps in her left breast during a self examination. A mamagram and furthur examination revealed 9 nodules.
After initial testing, it was determined that she would need a double masectomy. A biopsy of the lymph nodes taken during the course of the masectomy would tell what her post-surgery treatment would look like.
On December 20th, doctors at Putnam Hospital in New York performed the double masectomy with reconstructive surgery. The biopsy of the lymph nodes came back negative. D-D's treatment plan will include 5-7 weeks of daily radiation and a 10 year course of Tomoxifin.
D-D is one of the toughest women I have met in my life. She holds her own with the guys on the job site, would kick your butt in karate and holds it together when life throws everything it has at her. Due to the surgery and radiation, Loralee will be out of work for more than two months. Covering monthly bills will be tough, especially adding the cost of daily travel to and from radiation.
I can't think of a more deserving family to help this holiday season. Help Loralee kick Breast Cancer's ass!I know that in a few months time, D-D will be up and running again-ready to pay your kindness forward to others who need it!
