Lopez Family Tragedy

Donation protected

As migrant farmworkers, the Lopez family has always traveled every summer from their home state of Florida along the east coast following the harvest season.

But on May 7, as the family was heading to North Carolina on I-95 to work the blueberry harvest, they were involved in a severe and fatal car accident. Their Ford Explorer flipped 5 times before landing topside down. Grandfather, brother, and cousin died at the scene. Mother’s death later followed as the trauma to her head was so severe.

The father, Mario, and his 5 year old son, Willian, now without a wife and mother, are currently being cared for at separate hospitals and are in critical condition. The doctors and nurses are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. Both father and son will be undergoing multiple surgeries in the coming days and the road to recovery is long.

As you can only imagine, the Lopez family is experiencing tremendous emotional pain and are desperate for financial help. Donations collected will cover funeral costs, medical bills, and every day purchases, such as food, as no one in the immediate family is working at this time. The Lopez family comes from very humble roots with extended family in Mexico and Guatemala. Any amount you can donate to support is greatly appreciated.
