3 weeks ago we went in for our 20 week check-up and ultra sound. At that time our lives were turned upside down. The unimaginable has happened. Our doctor told us that something is very wrong…our baby has "Spina Bifida".
The medical staff now involved has told us that our child will be born physically handicapped.
As with any new parents, we’ve always wanted to do everything possible to help our unborn child be as healthy as possible. This baby has not even taken its first breath and yet is experiencing serious complications. In addition to the spina bifida, the doctors have found that the baby has only one kidney and a club foot. This little human being is certainly in need of help. We’ve always envisioned our child playing and doing things with other children… we still do. We will endure this challenge and do our best to ensure the best life our child can live!
But right now this is all so overwhelming. We are asking for your help! We are currently traveling 3 hours one way to meet with doctors on a regular basis. Our medical and travel expenses are adding up quickly. As expected, we both are absent from work during these excursions. However, the bills do not stop coming. Soon we will be down to one income when our baby is born in August. This new, first time Mom will be staying home full-time caring for this very special little child that God is sending to us.
So, please pray for strength for our unborn baby. We believe through our faith in God that He can perform miracles to make our child healthy! We know that God is listening to all of the prayers from us, family and friends.
We feel so blessed to have this baby coming home soon! We can't wait to see how our child will touch our lives as well as yours! And we look forward to the impact that you will have on Our New Baby!
