My dad recovering from transplant help rent & food

Hello world! My name is Ismael Oliva and I am 16 years old and I go to high school in Florida. My father who is currently in Dialysis is in need of a Kidney, desperate need as he is weak and now, he can barely walk, his diabetes only makes it worse. For my whole life I have had ups and downs but the one who has always helped me on my downs has always been my Step-Father who I call my father. My real father passed away when I was only three months old, and that moment was probably the hardest moment for my mother as it was just about to be valentines Day. A year later and my Step-Father, Hector Perez, came into our lives. Him coming into our lives was probably the best thing ever. He is possibly the greatest man I have ever met and proud to have him in my life as well as to boast about him too.

When I was little I would always spend time with my father, I remember going to his room with him and my mom watching TV and I would sit in the middle and watch TV with them until I fell asleep. A specific moment I remember from within those moments was me waking up to one of them picking me up to carry me to my room and placing a blanket on top of me, that person being my father. He has always taken care of me and he would always love to talk to me and teach me things, not just about school but about life. He was always the hustler; he had worked several hours a day and sometimes came home at night so he could pay the bills and rent of our household. Yet after he finished work, he would always come and spend time with us. As I grew up I looked up to my dad more and more and strived to be like him, he has and always will be my idol.

When I reached my teenage years, 14 to be exact, I started going out to places, but I didn't know how to drive and my mom was working, so my dad was the one who always took me. Before I hopped off of the car, each time my father would tell me to take precautions and to be careful to not do anything wild, and make sure I am safe in my surroundings at all times, so I did. But what I learned is that my dad does not only help me but helps others too as he sacrifices even his money to help others. He has given hundreds of dollars to my godmother whenever she needed it and thousands of his life savings. We were in debt, but he was the one who took us out of debt. Teaching us how to spend and save up money, how to use the paper bill wisely, instead of wasting things from wants, we invest them in needs. But the sacrifice of us getting out of debt was our life savings, but we had a few thousands left. The thing is my father and mother gave those thousands ups for what me and my siblings wanted for Christmas, they sacrificed their life savings for their children because they know they'll be okay and build it up again one day, that day still has not come.

Around 2020 my father had been struck by covid, being an uber driver then, having jobs that would pay him thousands sometimes, he had his own business going on. But covid had stopped him from hustling and working as it struck him so bad that he needed to go to the hospital for several weeks, I cried non-stop, I cried for weeks. I thought it was going to be the end due to him having diabetes and being the common age of death, I was worried, yet he pulled through. He pulled through and told me he was too stubborn to die, as he'll live as long as he needs to live to see my kids be born, then he knows that his duty as a father has been fulfilled. I love him to death, But Covid has messed up with his kidneys badly as they no longer work 60% as they did back then, now he can't live without Dialysis and is in desperate need for a kidney as Dialysis is slowly killing him, making him so weak that when he walks, he falls. I worry so much for him, but everyday he tells me it's okay, that he knows he can pull through, I believe him, but I don't think he can do this alone.

I wanted to help him by giving away my kidney to him, but when I did the survey, I’m underaged and ineligible to give him my kidney, and my other family members can't give their kidneys as my brother will be serving in the military, my brother has a disease so we don't know how it will react to the surgery and my mother has to work in order to keep the house bills paid and keep us from getting evicted, I was the only one who was able to give away my kidney, yet I was ineligible. I was saddened by this news as my father told me it was okay, I did enough for him anyways as I had to convince him to let me give him my kidney anyways, but it's not like it mattered in the end.

This whole purpose of the article is to inform everyone that my mother wants to donate her kidney to my father, but can't as she needs to work. But with all of your help my mom can donate her kidney to my father and have a 3 month break as that's the safe amount of time of rest my mom can have before she works again, but during that 3 month break we need to pay bills and groceries, and more. We need to pay those off so this money will help a lot. Any extra money we have after the recoveries will go to Saint Jude's Cancer Research.

I appreciate anyone reading this and it would be much appreciated if you can share this article to anyone in any way shape or form to someone to gather word and donations would be much appreciated as surgery is extremely high in price for us. Please only donate if you can spare the money and if you can't, please spread the word and share this article with anyone you know as it would help immensely. Thank you, Ismael Oliva
