My Daughter Sophia was born with a rare bone disease called Fibrous Dysplasia. Fibrous dysplasia is a disorder where normal bone and marrow is replaced with fibrous tissue, resulting in formation of bone that is weak and prone to expansion. As a result, most complications result from fracture, deformity, functional impairment, and pain. The Fibrous Dysplasia has affected bone extensively through out Sophia's skull. We have been monitoring Sophia's condition for years, and her team of Dr.'s have become concerned that the abnormal bone is damaging the optical nerve of Sophia's left eye. After much discussion, and search for surgeons, we have found a Neurosurgeon at Boston Childrens that will help us save Sophia's vision. It's a very complicated surgery, and has been a long road for all of us. They will be removing bone to decompress the nerve on Jan. 4th 2021. We have decided to start this Gofund me page, to help with mounting medical bills, and be able to continue to get Sophia the best care that we can. We travel to Boston often for Sophia's appts, and the gas, lodging, food, medical bills with everything else going on...has started to add up, and we could use any help we can get. Thank you in advance to anyone that can contribute to Sophia's care, or even just share the page to get the word out! We appreciate it! Sincerely, The Demers Family
