Looker Books is a woman-owned, cozy, and imaginative independent bookstore located in Coatesville, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. We sell new books and gifts from all genres and for all ages. Looker Books is a place where curiosity, creativity, and community can be found on every shelf.

We are raising funds for our expansion to a new space in Coatesville.

The feeling of walking into a warm, inviting, and whimsical bookstore cannot be replicated on a computer or a phone screen. Small, curated, and community bookstores are places where people can gather, feel included, be themselves, and discover something new. Looker Books seeks to be that welcoming space in Coatesville, PA.

Our customer base has grown significantly since opening in our 180-square-foot brick-and-mortar location four years ago. Unfortunately, our small space no longer meets the needs of our customers or the events and programs we host on-site.

The money raised through this campaign will be used to renovate, decorate, and stock our new 900-square-foot home at 209 E Lincoln Hwy (right across the street!). We need to purchase and install new flooring, fixtures, bookshelves, and furniture -- all of which will make our bookstore more accessible, aesthetically pleasing, safe, and shoppable. We also need to renovate the facade of the building with new signage and a more welcoming aesthetic.

Plus, what would an adorable bookstore be without some dramatic paint, rugs, and whimsical decoration!? We need to purchase and install all that whimsy as well. We would also like to add new items to our inventory that we currently do not have the space to display, such as candles, stationery, and special editions of beloved titles. Then there's all the boring, but very necessary stuff, like cleaning and office supplies, storage and organizational units, small appliances, and technology upgrades. Any funds received beyond our requested amount will go towards future rent and utilities.

Your donations will help us grow into the independent community bookstore we were always meant to be. The success of this campaign will determine how successful Looker Books can be in the years to come. The more money we raise from our dedicated and loyal supporters, the less debt we will incur to continue serving Coatesville and Chester County.
