Hi, my name is Moriah Cutro-Kelly and I started this fundraiser on behalf of Lisa, Scott, and Abbigail Impey to help them cover their moving expenses.
I met Lisa in August of 2021 in a support group for Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS). At the time, I knew nothing about the condition except that a friend had seen a Facebook awareness post and thought MALS could be causing my severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and weight loss. I asked if there were any other Vermonters in the MALS group and within a few hours, Lisa reached out to me. From that moment on, she supported me throughout my entire journey. She helped me get properly diagnosed and referred me to the most experienced surgeon in the country for MALS. Within 7 months of meeting this incredible woman, I had a successful surgery thanks to her knowledge, support, and advocacy.
And I am just one person that Lisa has helped in this way. Lisa IS a helper. She has walked numerous other patients through their MALS journey, preventing them from developing the same complications she has to endure as a result of delayed diagnosis. She worked as a paramedic for 13 years, helping people at their most vulnerable and critical times until her illness prevented her from doing so any longer. Now, she works as a 911 dispatcher despite her multiple medical conditions and being a wheelchair user. She is still providing steadfast support to her community.
I call on the community to recognize Lisa’s tireless dedication to helping others and in turn, show her the same support she so selflessly and graciously shows others. Please consider donating to this amazing woman and her family.
Any additional donations will go towards helping them financially recover from Lisa being out of work earlier this year, due to complications related to her major surgery.
