Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you may know I had been waiting since last year for my knee replacement. On June 22 I went down to Phoenix for surgery. I was so excited to finally get this done.
Unfortunately, after surgery I developed a major complication. The following day I was sent to St. Joe’s hospital for emergency surgery. I had developed a clot in the artery behind my knee and had no blood flow to my lower leg for over a day.
The surgeon removed the clot and performed a fasciotomy to both side of my calf to save my leg and prevent further complications. I spent one night in ICU and a week in the hospital before being transferred to a physical rehabilitation facility for a month. I have been dealing with excruciating pain from the knee replacement, from the open wound, and constant and severe nerve pain all at once.
It took me about two and a half weeks before I could walk with a walker, which I still need.
I finally got to come home on July 27th and a week later , on Aug. 3rd I was back in Phoenix at St. Joe’s where the surgeon was able to close the open wounds from the fasciotomy.
The Doctors are all telling me that my recovery process could take six months to a year, that the nerve pain may or may not get better, and that I might be permanently disabled from this.
I haven’t worked since Jan. 3rd 2020 and I have since exhausted all my savings. The money I receive here will go towards my household and medical bills.
