Long Live Kuanyliet "Kuan" Kogalt
Donation protected
On Monday, December 28th, 2020, in Calgary, Alberta, the Kogalt family suffered an incredible loss. Our beloved, Kuanyliet Kogalt, was unexpectedly taken from our world alongside his friend, Cody Akoar. Kuanyliet, also known to his friends as “Kuan”, passed away at the young age of 20. He was an incredibly loved son, brother, friend, father, and relative to so many. Knowing Kuanyliet was an experience we are all so blessed to have been part of, and his love and kindness will live through all of us forever.
Kuanyliet was a person that loved so deeply, and looked at everyone as their equal. He was a happy and positive person who always carried a smile on his face everywhere he went. The spirit he carried uplifted all those who surrounded him, and we hope all who were blessed to have known him will continue to do the same. Kuanyliet had a deep passion for basketball, and was a very talented player. During his basketball career he played for Rangers Basketball in Medicine Hat, Alberta, followed by Father Lacombe High School and CYDC in Calgary, Alberta . He loved music, spending time with his family and friends, his South Sudanese community, and his son.
Kuanyliet is survived by his siblings, Nyanahan, Aylo, Lat, Akoi, Emmanuel, Alok, Acrom, Ajok and Blessing, his parents Achan and Majak, and his Auntie Asonta. He's also survived by the mother of his child, Emmanuela; the legacy Kuanyliet left behind will always be carried by his young son, Kyro. Kuanyliet is so loved and always will be remembered by his relatives, friends, and the South Sudanese community. The family is grateful for all the messages of condolences, prayers, and well-wishes; these kind gestures continue to provide the family with the much needed strength in this hard time.
Kuanyliet’s sudden death has brought an unexpected financial hardship on the family to cover his funeral costs. All contributions will go directly to laying our dear Kuanyliet to rest, and providing him a celebration of life that will honour all the good he brought to this world. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but all details will be posted once finalized by the family.
If Kuanyliet loved you once, he loved you always. The world will never be the same without him, but his spirit will always be remembered through his family, friends, and son. Long live, Kuan.
