Hi my name is Shelley Woeste and I am the President of the American Legion Auxiliary here in Cambria. Kim Adams and her family have lived here in Cambria for generations. Kim and her daughters have been members of our nonprofit organization for 12 plus years and we are reaching out to our generous community in hopes of helping Kim and her family during this difficult time.
Here is information from Kim's daughter Christin...
Kim Well Adams has given to others in need over and over again, and now Kim and her family need some help. Kim would say she doesn’t need any help and is fine, but she humbly agreed her family may need it at this time.
Let’s start from the beginning, back in 2010 Kim was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PAH). She was given a life expectancy of 5 years when this all first came about. She was able to outlive that with her strong faith and willpower.
Now we jump to the present. Kim was diagnosed with Cancer in November of 2022, by doctors at Stanford University. Unable to give her and her family an exact prognosis, they went on with their lives waiting for answers.
On December 26th, 2022 Kim was taken to the ER at French Hospital. She had been sick for a few days and becoming short of breath. Once there she was admitted to the ICU, they ran tests and found out that not only had the cancer in her lungs grown, but she also had a bad infection in her colon. Her doctor felt it would be best for her to transfer to Stanford as soon as they had an ICU bed available.
On December 30th she was transferred to Stanford ICU, but in order to do so, she had to be intubated for the flight. She had already been to Stanford multiple times trying to figure out what the cancer was, so she already had teams of amazing doctors working on her case. The doctors at Stanford were able to finally give her some answers and diagnosed the Cancer as Large Cell Lymphoma. Kim has decided to go ahead with the treatment of the Lymphoma at this time.
Kim’s faith and strength are a force to be reckoned with and will continue to help her overcome the obstacles ahead. Her family continues to be by her side and would love to keep it that way, but things are beginning to add up fast. Kim and her family have a long road ahead of them and some very tough decisions to make.
Any help that you give to the Adams Family would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small. All funds collected will be given to the Adams Family so that they can remain by Kim's side.
