Long road to recovery for Jerrica & Brian

METHUEN — A domino effect of crashes on Route 213 Sunday night sent four people to area hospitals, according to an update released by state police Monday morning.

State police say they were called to the westbound section of Route 213 in Methuen Sunday at 7 p.m. before Interstate 93 for a crash involving three motorcycles and two cars.

A preliminary investigation showed that a motorcycle and a car crashed and caused an immediate traffic backup, police said. They said the backup caused two more motorcycles to hit cars.

One of the motorcyclists was taken to Boston Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries, state police said. Two other motorcyclists and a woman who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles were taken to Lawrence General Hospital.

State police said the woman was later flown by medical helicopter to Lahey Medical Center due to the extent of her injuries.

The exact circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by troopers assigned to the Andover Barracks, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services, state police said Monday.

Please keep Jerrica & Brian in your prayers. They were both involved in the accident above and were in critical condition.  They tried to avoid the accident they saw in front of them as they were on there way home. It was a two lane highway on 213 in methuen but there was nowhere for them to go to avoid the accident in front of them between the first motorcycle and vehicle. . Jerrica was medflighted in a helicopter due to the seriousness of her injuries. She lost an excessive amount of blood that the helicopter didn't have time to transport her to BOSTON hospital so they had to rush her to LAHEY MEDICAL CENTER in BURLINGTON,MA.  Brian is at Lawrence Medical Center with broken front and back ribs, 2 collapsed lungs, a ruptured spleen, broken tibia in 2 places, and 2 broken vertebrae, and may need a hip reconstruction. Jerrica is still in critical but stable condition with 1 collapsed lung, damaged liver, damaged spleen, broken ribs and a fracture on her lower spine and medical professionals are still diagnosing while she has been sedated while her internal injuries are healing. She is still unable to have visitors besides direct family while she is in the trauma center ICU at Lahey Medical Center. We will update her and Brian's progress as time passes.

After this time, help is encouraged. They have been through enough. They just lost their beautiful 2 1/2 month old baby, Macie Lee Vitale in December 2018, a week before christmas. They have been so strong trying to get life back to "normal". Neither one of them are going to be able to work while they will be recovering in a rehab facility directly from the hospital. They are going to need all the help they can get! Both Jerrica's family and Brian's family appreciate all of the love, support, and prayers from everyone that cares for them. Thank you so much for your time and we encourage anyone that reads this to share this. Anything helps and we will keep you informed of their progress. Thank you!
