Hi my name is Lisa Radmore, former owner of JL Hart Roofing. I am the proud mother of Spencer Radmore which in most a lot of you know Spencer in the baseball community (Leduc Giants, Thorsby bandits) for the past 14 years in Leduc county area. Spencer is a kind hearted, kinderspirit, young man that would help and do anything for anyone! For the past 2 years Spencer has suffered horrendous pain in his abdominal area and unfortunately no bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds could come up with what was wrong with him. On April 2,2024 Spencer was diagnosed with Purpura (Purpura is a condition of red or purple discolored blood spots. The spots are caused by bleeding underneath the skin on his legs, bottom of feet, up his thighs & have spread to his arms). He was constantly getting set home for his abdominal pain saying it was just a stomach flu).
On Friday October 18th @ 6:00pm Spencer starting showing signs of his body going into bad distress
With also loosing 20 lbs in 30 days I knew that was a huge red flag. The pain was beyond a “10” to the point I had to pick up my 15 year old 6”3 son and carry him to the truck to get him to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton. Upon arrival at the stollery the pain became over a 10 more like a 15. Once arrived it was determined that he was being admitted to the stollery & undergoing surgery right away that evening. There is a 15 centimetre piece of his small intestines that showed on his CT scan that could possibly be needed to be taken out. We have 2 different surgeon teams working together to figure what exactly is wrong with my son. We are trying to rule out cancer but will not Know until tomorrow or the next day when the results come back. (Still waiting results as of Tuesday October 29th)
Here are a few things that have been done since we’ve been here going on day 5 ..
- Diagnostic Laparoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Ultra Sound
- X Ray’s
- TB testing
- Skin Biopsy off left arm
- Biopsy of intestine
- Over 30+ blood work samps
- Stool samples
- Urine testing
- MRI November 6th
- Capsule Endoscopy (2 procedures for this, November 11th-13th, This test uses a camera shaped like a pill to look at the inside of the digestive tract that cannot be seen using the upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Another gastroenterologist procedure in November will update the info on which one this is shortly.
UPDATED: Tuesday October 29th Unfortunately we still have no idea what is exactly wrong with my boy Spencer except this 15 cm of intestine. So we wait and see each and every day what’s the next outcome from the next round of testings being done.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 7, 2024
Hello everyone! We have officially received Spencer’s bed that he needed for his up coming surgeries. I would like to give a huge heart felt send out to the lady who anonymously donated the full bed to Spencer. We are so appreciative of this huge blessing as I was quoted nearly $5,000 at one of the local mattress/bed businesses. That would have took all of our go fund me and some out of pocket I didn’t have. So Thank you so much from the Radmore’s. Spencer is resting at home until his colonoscopy & MRI coming up within the next week. We have had to pick up more cases of his children’s pediasure liquid diet drinks. His medication for his colonoscopy they are requiring him to have is not covered, so that is another expense again for us.
November & Decembers rents have both been paid by the kindness from you all and again Thank you so much! We will keep updates as we go along. Love always & the most biggest appreciations ever to you all, The RADMORE’S
As of right now with Spencer is still not well and is very scared, pain level stands at a constant level 7. Spencer was released on Friday October 25th. to come home on a very strict formulated liquid diet (10 cans of children’s PediaSure meal replacement's & 3 glasses of water a day, absolutely NOTHING else to eat or drink for 3 weeks straight. The cost of that 3 week prescription was just over $650.00 with no coverage. I’ve added a photo of some of the cases I have picked up so far, just waiting for remainder to be picked up. I have had to miss a lot more work now between his first visit being admitted to now being here at the Stollery again Tuesday October 29th. Myself only having one income & 3 children. I could graciously use some help please towards our next two rents (November 1st & December 1st of $1,713.00 x 2) and additionally some gas, parking, meals, prescriptions. The two front tires (18 inch) on my car are completely worn out now. So I will definitely in need of help in getting those as that is our way of wheels to get Spencer to all his appointments & back to stollery when needed to be admitted again.
Spencer will be in need of a queen size bed frame one that you press a button and it lifts the front and back up to help him get out in and out of the bed properly for his recovery when he gets home. Once Spencer is out of the Stollery, we will have an abundance amount of specialist appointments and doctors so again gas and parking is a huge thing that is really costly, especially travelling from Leduc all the way into Edmonton and sometimes further north into Edmonton, for these appointments. would relieve so much pressure on myself so I can stay focussed on my son‘s long journey ahead of us and his recovery. From an extremely worried sad tired Mother, I thank anyone who can help as this was completely unexpected & having a sick child is not easy. It takes a village to raise a baby but a village to help a sick child.
Thank you from the Radmore’s for anyone who can help relive the financial stress. May God bless all- Lisa, Spencer, Tessa, Ryan
