Hi, I'm Glenn Andreiev, a Long Island-based filmmaker and film historian. I am producing LONG ISLAND 70's, a feature documentary about one of the most fascinating decades in the region’s history—the 1970s.

What made Long Island in the 1970s so unique? Families moving from New York City to Nassau and Suffolk brought a rich mix of cultures and influences that helped shape a generation of artists and musicians.

Long Island became home to legends like Billy Joel and Harry Chapin, with a thriving live music scene in local clubs like My Father's Place, Hammerheads and Spit.

Beyond music, the Island featured independent theaters, (The Cinema Arts Centre, Uniondale Mini Cinema) bustling malls like Walt Whitman Mall and Smith Haven Mall, and a vibrant community atmosphere.

But there was another side as well. The film also explores darker chapters, including organized crime and the Amityville Horror, and how they became part of Long Island’s folklore.

This documentary is about preserving a remarkable era before it fades from memory. Through interviews with musicians, historians, business owners, and residents, we’ll tell the story of a place that helped shape American culture. Please check out the film's trailer (which is posted here)
