On Tuesday, September 2nd, many in Long Beach, NY—especially on the East End—heard the helicopter and saw the local fire department rushing to a rescue. A 27-year-old man was standing knee-deep in the water when he was suddenly pulled by the current and swept behind the barrier rocks. He went into cardiac arrest and drowned while at the beach with his family—a day meant for joy that turned into tragedy. His loved ones witnessed the entire ordeal as first responders fought tirelessly to save him. After 20 minutes of CPR, they were able to restore a pulse, and he was rushed to the hospital.
Despite the heroic efforts, he remained in critical condition until Friday, September 5th, when he sadly passed away, surrounded by those who loved him.
I am heartbroken to share that this man was my dear friend, Junior.
Junior was a devoted partner and a loving father—his youngest child born only two months ago. As the sole provider for his family, his sudden passing has left them facing unimaginable grief and hardship. First and foremost, I ask for your prayers during this painful time. If you are able to give, any donation will go directly to support Junior’s partner and children—helping them cover medical bills, daily expenses, and giving them stability in the wake of this devastating loss.
Junior was a great man whose life touched so many. Now, his family needs us more than ever.
