اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ

‎Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

I reach out to you today with a heavy heart and a sincere plea for support on behalf of a fellow Muslim brother, Mohamed. Mohamed who came from a very remote village in West Bengal, India to Australia full of hope and ambition, having completed his Bachelor of Economics at the University of Newcastle. But just when he was on the cusp of achieving his dreams, he was struck by the cruel news of a Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer Diagnosis in April 2023.

Remember what Allah says in the Qur’an 2:261:

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain that sprouts seven ears; in each ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (the reward) for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and All-Knowing.”

Before his diagnosis, Mohamed was not only a diligent student, but he was also a Hafiz of the Quran and a committed leader at his local mosques in India and Australia. While pursuing his studies, he worked full-time and led Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan at the Newcastle Mosque, drawing strength from his faith to lead and inspire others. His dreams were simple yet profound: to build a family, to raise children who would also memorize the Quran, and to pass on his pious upbringing to the next generation. He hoped to marry, raise his children to be the best of Muslims, and continue contributing to his community.

However, all of those dreams came to a tragic halt when the cancer diagnosis changed everything. Mohamed is now battling daily pain, fatigue, bleeding, coughing, fever, nausea, headache, nerve damage, and the physical toll of constant treatments, including chemotherapy, oxygen, blood transfusions, potassium infusion, and white cell infusions. Despite his determination and unwavering faith in Allah, Mohamed’s future feels uncertain, and he finds himself in a dark room with only the Quran Tilawat to comfort him. The burning sensations he gets from electromagnetic radiation due to low immunity system prevents him from sitting in light, so he sits ALONE in the DARK.

Mohamed’s situation is dire, and his financial struggles are costly but reachable with our support.

His monthly bills total $3,150, which includes:

• Rent: $720

• Taxi fares $1,840 [hospital 5 days a week]

• Medicine: $300

• Electricity: $100

• Gas: $120

• Mobile phone: $70

This total does not include the emotional toll Mohamed faces as he is isolated from his family, who are back in India. His family eats from the Ramadan Zakat Fitrah, and they, too, are deeply affected by his condition. Mohamed, alone in Australia, has to defer payments to his family abroad, due to the strain on his finances, a heartbreaking reality for someone who had once dreamed of a brighter future.

Despite everything, Mohamed’s faith in Allah is what keeps him going. He listens to the Quran’s tilawat whenever possible, finding solace and strength in those sacred words. He is reaching out for your generosity, as he is currently relying on local community support to get by.

Your donations will help Mohamed cover his essential living expenses—his rent, transportation, medication, and basic utilities. It will give him some relief from financial burden and allow him to focus on what truly matters: his faith and his treatment.
