Hi everyone.
My name is Adam and my lovely wife, Diana Wing and I are the proud parents of a smart, beautiful, kind, artistic, and funny little girl named Londyn. Londyn is 12 years old and is in Grade 7. She loves her hamster Honey and our two dogs, Meala and Remy. She likes to participate in Eleanor Drury, which produces plays for all to see here in Thunder Bay.
Londyn has always had difficulties over the years with making friends, comprehending and executing daily tasks including school work, instructions from authority figures, as well as many other struggles. She was diagnosed with ADHD about 2 years ago and most recently diagnosed with level 1 ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and we have been trying various medications as recommended by her Pediatrician, but unfortunately these medications come with awful side effects and we have yet to find ones that work for her. She is currently taking not just 1 ADHD med, but 2 and also needing an anxiety medication. She bravely takes 6 pills each day, that just aren't helping.
With her very recent ASD diagnosis, there are more options for therapy but the wait list is extremely long for funded therapies and at best, if she receives those therapies in the 5-7 years, will only accomplish so much due to the late diagnoses. The system has completely failed us over the years and continues to fail even now with the newest diagnosis of Autism.
However, there is a treatment in Vancouver, BC that was brought to our attention by our family doctor which has shown very promising results for many children with varying degrees of ASD, ADHD, anxiety, etc. and we have decided to make this treatment happen for her one way or another. It comes with a success rate of 80-88% and could impact her quality of life so very much and help her thrive in multiple ways, as well as respond better to the therapies we are currently able to put in place for her now with a diagnosis. This treatment is very new to Canada, but has been successfully treating ASD children in the USA since 2003.
Diana and Londyn will be travelling to Vancouver in mid February 2025 to which consists of 2 treatments per day, 5 days a week for one month. They will be staying very close to the clinic to make this very stressful time as easy as possible in the coming weeks. We love this girl to death and want nothing but the best for her. If there is a chance to give her the life she deserves that so many others take for granted, we have to move mountains to make it somehow work.
We are putting our pride aside and kindly asking for whatever you can help with and would be ever so grateful for your generous assistance to change our little girls life for the better. We will be covering out of pocket, as there is no funding available and no access to travel grants because it is an off label treatment. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your kindness.
