Hi, my name is Lucy Cabral and I'm fundraising for my dear cousin Rui Vieira.

Rui has been diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive type of cancer called CiC-DUX4 sarcoma. This rare and aggressive type of soft tissue cancer leads to uncontrolled tumor growth. This sarcoma represents less than one percent of sarcomas in Canada and has tendency to spread to other areas and in Rui's case, sadly has already travelled to his lungs.

London & Surrounding Area, we need your help. As a small business owner of the King of the Pigs - Hamilton Rd., Rui, along with his wife Sandi, have poured their heart and souls in to making this family run restaurant a success. I'm sure along the way you've had some of their fabulous chicken or taken home a bottle or two of their amazing sauces!

Since taking ownership of the King of the Pigs in 2001, the Vieira's have supported the Portuguese community with support of their soccer team, sponsored many spiritual festivals for the community and has been a faithful sponsor of the Portuguese Marching Band, something that brings both Rui and Sandi joy, as they continue to embrace their Portuguese heritage in London.

Outside of the Portuguese community, Rui has support many other soccer teams, helped kids play hockey, has helped the Children's hospital among other charitable sponsorships.

As you can imagine, with this very rare diagnosis, many things are not covered by any medical plan or OHIP. Multiple trips to and from the hospital, parking, medication (and more medication) along with many other items required to keep Rui comfortable as he pours his heart now in to surviving this disease. The staff of the King of the Pigs continue to work hard to keep the business running which both Rui and Sandi appreciate however without Rui there, funds are dwindling and bills sadly are quickly piling up.

I can appreciate that everyone is careful on where they spend, however if possible any amount of donation would help Sandi continue to do all she can to help Rui win this battle....
