London's Calling! Aisha's Marathon Fundraiser

Dreams actually do come true! In 2019, I had a goal of running the London Marathon for my 50th birthday year (2022). Then came Covid, and I realized that dream would probably be unattainable due to the number of people who had to defer their 2020 & 2021 marathon entries. So, I pivoted quickly to the NY Marathon. However, I got an email a few weeks ago calling for application submissions for the London Marathon lottery, said "Why not? Who knows?", and submitted an application.

 

I GOT IN!!! IT'S MY DREAM!!! YAY!!!

 

Next step - raising funds. I wasn't expecting to get chosen for the race, and so I'm not exactly financially prepared for it - lol! My overall goal is $6,500 for the trip, and I have an immediate need of $1,600 within the next two days (by Sunday) to send a deposit into the travel agency. So, I'm looking for sponsors! If you have the means to give, I'd love your help getting to the finish line (pun ABSOLUTELY INTENDED!).

 

For $1-49, you can submit a song for me to play on my marathon playlist that I'll listen to while training and during the race. I'll have you in my thoughts as I go along this journey!

 

For $50+, I will add your name to a t-shirt that I will wear - a bold reminder of how it takes a team and you're part of mine!

 

Of course, ANY amount is welcome! Your support will mean the world to me - dreams shared with others are so much better than experiencing them alone. The race is on October 2, 2022. I will keep everyone updated on my training, the race, and all things London-bound on social media, so keep your eyes open for that!
