On the 7th September I have decided to run the London half marathon in memory of my Mum, who sadly passed away to cancer last June. I wanted to challenge myself one more time and I thought after completing the London Marathon in 2018, what better way to honour my Mum to now attempt the London half marathon. Also running with me will be Jason and Alfie Hall. Jason being a massive support during a difficult time for me last year, and also Jason and Alfie running on behalf of their dad, and Grandad, Geoff, who also bravely fought, and beat this horrible illness.

All 3 of us have all decided to donate any money raised to the “Leah Wilby” foundation. Leah was tragically diagnosed with cancer at the age of 8, and after fighting it for 7 years Leah sadly passed away at the tragic young age of only 15.

To honour Leah and her memory her family decided to set up the foundation to help and support other families who are also going through the heartache they all felt.

The Leah Wilby foundation provides holiday accommodation in their 6 birth static caravan at Haven Seashore, Great Yarmouth, for families of young people who who are being treated by a paediatric oncologist in the UK. The Caravan is free of charge to the families due to the ongoing support from the Leah Wilby foundation.

I have personally had the pleasure of working with Leah’s mum, for a number of years and I have seen at first hand the lengths she goes to to continue to raise money and all the hard work and effort that goes into such a wonderful charity. I class Leah’s mum as a dear friend.

So on behalf of myself, Jason and Alfie Hall, I know times are hard but if you can spare just only a small donation we will all be forever grateful. Hopefully with your help we can raise enough money to keep this fantastic charity going, and at the same time making sure young children and their families receive some joy and happiness at what must be such a difficult time for them all.
