London to Brighton Bike Ride 2025 for Gam Med

After the success of last years' event, the Gam Med team have once again entered the 50 mile bike ride from London to Brighton to raise essential funds for the charity.

This year, the team are also coming together to remember Cas, a devoted member of the Gam Med team, who took part in the ride last year. Cas, an anaesthetist, has been part of the team since the first outreach trips to The Gambia and sadly passed away earlier this year.

Who we are

Gam Med is a charity that was formed with the aim that UK healthcare professionals provide specialist care as well as mentor and teach local staff to raise the standards of hospital treatment in The Gambia. As well as this the charity also source & ship much needed medical equipment to the country.

The Gambia lies on the coast of West Africa. It is the smallest country in mainland Africa and it ranks among the poorest countries in the world. Less than half of The Gambia's population has access to electricity, and over a third of the country's urban population lives in slums. There is a shortage of healthcare professionals which leads to people seeking treatment from Traditional Healers. This often leads to poor outcomes for patients.
