London to Barcelona - Charity Cycle

As cycling amateurs we will be attempting a gruesome challenge, covering close to 1,400 miles over the course of two weeks, pushing our bodies and minds to their limits! This challenge is in pursuit of something much bigger than ourselves, if we can impact at least one persons life in a positive capacity by raising money for the three charities we have selected then it will be a job well done!
“With great power comes great responsibility,” besides the fact that it’s a quote from Spiderman, we have a great responsibility as fortunate Humans to look after those who are less fortunate.
Our purpose for coming together in this group, was very clear and came at a wonderful time. We are all well into our late 20s, exploring/exceling in our careers and some of us have even settled down with our partners, no kids just yet. We want to achieve different heights that most will perceive as mad, and make it seem sane to the majority, because when it comes down to it we are all H U M A Ns. That is the common denominator that bonds us together and keeps us evolving century after century.

PCRF
"PCRF" dedicates its medical resources to treating and saving lives of the innocent children, caught up in the atrocities happening in the Middle-East.Places like Gaza and the West Bank are so dependent on charity, that 80% of the population survives on the funds raised/aid provided by people like you and me, who care just that little bit more about humanity and the world we live in.
This charity means a lot to us as we don’t believe that children should be suffering because of political turmoil in places they call home.Through our extensive research and our encounters with the individuals who have fled from the atrocities of the Middle-East made us realise how lucky we are and how we should be helping others who are less fortunate, through no choice of their own have had to endure pain and suffering.We want to do as much as we can to provide funding for these children to have at least a fighting chance to live a life of hope and happiness.
MIND
"MIND", a mental health charity that dedicates itself to supporting those struggling with mental health. "every year 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem".Having one of our group members lose his brother, it has really hit home for all of us how important it is to have a healthy mind. We want to help families and individuals by raising as much money as possible to support those who are suffering in silence.
This cycle will not only be physically challenging but also ask a lot from our mental endurance. We realise that this cycle is a walk in the park in comparison to living with mental health difficulties, but it’s the least we can do to help all those going through the struggle each day."Suicide is the SINGLE biggest killer of men in the UK under 45". This needs to change.
ALD Life
"ALD Life" supports families and children who are suffering from this deadly genetic disease (Adrenoleukodystrophy) that affects 1 in 18 000 people.It affects boys and men. The most devastating form of ALD appears in childhood, generally between the ages of four and ten years old.
Normal, healthy boys suddenly begin to regress. At first, they simply show behavioural problems, such as withdrawal or difficulty concentrating. Gradually, as the disease ravages their brain, their symptoms grow worse, including blindness and deafness, seizures, loss of muscle control, and progressive dementia.
One of the members has a number of relatives, that are suffering from this devastating disease. As you may be aware this relentless downward spiral leads to either death or permanent disability, usually within 2 to 5 years from diagnosis. We are here today to do what we can, to help them live a better tomorrow.
