Hi everyone,
I opened this fundraising page last year to help raise money for Katie.
On 21st April this year I will be running London marathon again and going to try and raise more money to help her keep fighting.
In January 2022 Katie found out she had a rare cancer of the nose and had to have an operation to remove the growth which included part of her nose being removed.
Once Katie was feeling strong enough after intense radiotherapy she was due to have a nose reconstruction only to be told the cancer had now spread to her lungs and also come back in her nose. Katie was now faced with a life changing operation which would remove her nose altogether.
Sadly Katie’s cancer was so aggressive it continued to grow and no treatment in the UK could continue to help her. Katie managed to find treatment in Germany that specialised in her cancer and spent a lot of 2023 flying over for life saving treatment. This treatment was costing £4000 monthly and all the help from donations and fundraising, it was able to give Katie more precious time and memories with her family.
In September 2023 Katie was even given the best news in that her body was cancer free. Unfortunately though, this was short lived and due to the aggressiveness of this horrible cancer - it came back even more aggressive than ever.
Katie’s last surgery was January this year and wasn’t as successful as we all hoped for. Most of the cancer now is classed as inoperable and while being brought round she stopped breathing. Katie survived and was told once she was brought round that her body is too weak to keep on having surgery and she will now be discharged and handed over to palliative care.
Katie will not give up, she has a gorgeous 3 year old daughter and while she is alive she will keep fighting and trying to find alternative treatment.
Katie is beautiful inside and out. Please let’s try and help raise as much money we can to help her keep fighting and making memories with her daughter and husband
