Hello! Having previously run a 5km fundraiser about 10 years ago, and really not much distance running in between, I am now - terrifyingly - doing the London Marathon in April 2026.
I will be running to raise money for Medical Action Myanmar (MAM), and I would very much like your support!
MAM is a small but mighty charity which provides essential, frontline and basic medical services to the poorest and most marginalised people in Myanmar.
Why MAM?
- Every pound raised will go to frontline services offering basic and comprehensive healthcare to some really vulnerable people.
- MAM is run on a shoe string - a consultation costs £6. That includes everything (doctor/nurse, drugs, clinic)!
- The clinics they run are staffed entirely by Burmese doctors, nurses and support staff.
- MAM provides essential jobs to over 2000 people.
- Many staff are village health workers, spread over vast areas of the countryside. They provide testing and referral for basic diseases/conditions in areas that otherwise have no access to healthcare.
- Last year they provided over 2.4 million consultations!
MAM was set up over 20 years ago by two ex-MSF doctors, one Burmese and one Dutch. I know them personally and have seen them put everything into setting MAM up and growing it into the highly effective organisation it is today.
Please support MAM by sponsoring me for the London Marathon - Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
