We're the London Kelpies, an East London based trans and non-binary contact rugby team.
As the RFU and other rugby organising bodies are increasingly increasingly trans exclusive, we are working hard to foster a space where trans and non-binary players can participate in sport, learn skills, and build community together.
We're doing this all ourselves: so far we've trained over 30 new players in London and are working up to playing our first game soon!
We need more funds to be able to make this happen. Specifically, we're hoping to raise money for:
- Insurance, so that we can insure ourselves to play games. Regular rugby clubs receive this through being RFU members, which isn't an option for us as a mixed-gender trans rugby club.
- Kit and equipment, so that we can play and train together as a team
- Player access fund, so that we can offer money to our players for essential kit like mouthguards and boots, and pay for their travel to and from games
- Game day funds so we can put on our first match, and hopefully in the future a queer and trans rugby tournament in London
Donating to this fundraiser will enter you into our r*ffle (which will be drawn on the 10th December). One strip of tickets is £5, three is £12. Feel free to donate more if you'd like - but we're grateful for any and all contributions.
