Loki’s Vet Bills

Loki is a Maine Coon who was found and handed into Vets now at Sheffield who attempted to locate his owner but no one came forward. Loki ended up coming to us at Buttons Cat Rescue and we knew he would need a lot of treatment to get him back to full health with the help of his foster family. He settled straight away and made himself known.

Loki was diagnosed with Entropion in both eyes. This is where the lower eye lids turn inward so that the eyelashes and skin rub against the eye surface. This causes irritation and discomfort. He was also diagnosed with a heart murmur and on top of all this he wasn’t neutered.

Loki had his first surgery a few weeks ago with a cost of just over £1000, he has 4mm of skin removed from his left eye and 5mm from the right eye. Two weeks later the stitches in his right eye bust and Loki was rushed back to the vets and had to have emergency surgery to restitch his eye, this was another cost of £522. On Thursday he was back at the vets for a check up and we were told the eyes are healing well from both surgery’s but the top eye lids are not too long and both need around 2cm removing to pull them together to there is no skin hanging over and rubbing against his eyeball. The quote for this new surgery is £1000-£1200.

We still have a balance on our vet account of £1200, any amount that can be donated would be appreciated. Loki will still need a heart scan once his eyes are recovered. Loki is the most amazing boy, he’s been through so much in his short life and he deserves the chance to live a normal cat life.
