Hi, my name is Steph. And this is Loki. A 4 year old Belgian Malinois. The dog behind Loki's Leashes.

Loki came to us at 11 months old, us being his 3rd and final home. He didn't have the best start for a puppy, being born at the Lancaster puppy mills, and having 3 homes in his first year of life. But he's been with us, in his forever home, for 3 years now.

Loki loves his job as an upland bird hunting dog and a larger game recovery tracking dog. He loves fetch, hiking, swimming and playing with other dogs. He's ALWAYS on the go, constantly running and moving.

Which brings us to this fundraiser. Loki has always struggled to build muscles in his back legs. He tends to bunny hop when he runs, and lately he's been favoring his back left leg. So Loki went for x-rays on 3/15/2023 and it was discovered he has one of the worst cases of hip dysplasia his vet has ever seen in a dog his age. Without intervention, his hips will continue to deteriorate, causing more pain then he's already experiencing and leading to loss of mobility. Greatly reducing his quality of life and ultimately ending his hunting career.

The next steps involve seeing a specialist (4/11) to put together a game plan for surgery.

We are already at $500 for the official diagnosis. The specialist consult will tack on another few hundred dollars and probably include further x-rays. Then the surgery...if loki needs a Total Hip Replacemt (THR), we're looking at between $10k & $15K, a 12 week recovery time, and follow up x-rays throughout the healing process. Along with time off work for me, to make sure he can get to the needed appointments. This is a HUGE financial undertaking, but anyone who knows Loki, knows he deserves the world and I will do anything to take away the pain he's experiencing. But any help on this journey will help greatly and will ease some of the burden.

If you don't want to just donate money, any products sold off Loki's Leashes on fb will also go towards funding Loki's new hips.

Loki loves you all! ❤️
