Hello, my name is Ryan Bell, I am desperately searching for help for my best friend Loki. Loki is a lab mix that was homeless and we incorporated him into our family a little over six years ago. I want to let you know this dog is not a dog at all. He's more human than I could ever hope to be. He's gaurded, played, and loved my now teen and pre teen children since they were six and seven years old. He's been my rock, my friend, and a shoulder to cry on through the loss of a marriage, never judging, always listening and consoling me with a lick on the face. He makes sure the house is secure and lays by the front door every night to make sure his family is safe. He greets everyone with a kiss dosen't have a mean bone in his body and all he wants in return is for you to throw a ball or stick for as long as you can. The reason I'm telling you this is because 3 days ago he was outside with me on a hot day, and to escape the heat he laid down in the shade behind my father's dodge ram 2500, right behind the passenger side tire. Loki wasnt able to react in time when my father put the truck in reverse, and was backed over. There was no way my dad could have known he was there. Loki was ran over at the pelvis causing deep lacerations to his right leg exposing bone, that required 30 stitches, his left hip was pulled from the socket and tore the tendons and muscle, and also damaged severely his genitals. I rushed him to the emergency vet where they stabilized him, stitched him up and sent him to a specialist to relocate his hip. They are unable to fix his hip without surgery. The emergency visit had taken everything I had to my name. $2700.00. they gave him a regiment of meds, antibiotics, pain pills, anxiety pills etc. And sent him home with one good leg all stitched up, and his other without function. There was no way in hell I could have him put down because you can't put a price on the life of someone as special as Loki. His hip surgery will cost in excess of 6000 dollars and that's impossible for me to do. I need and I pray for help for him. I gave him home, laying as comfortable as possible making sure his meds are on time, staying up all night with him, carrying him outside to potty, talking to him, and still he listens, looking at me and it kills me to see him laying there so broken and there's nothing I can do to make it better for him. I owe Loki my life, my sanity, my soul and I'm looking for help because I can't afford to get him on four legs again. The procedure is 6500.00 with a 90% probability of full use. The longer it goes unfixed the harder it will be for him to recover from, and other more severe side effects will persist and I don't want him to give up on life because he is so special. And I say this both biased an unbiasdly. Please this is no hoax, I can send pics of his current condition and will update regularly, and post all receipts for care, I am self-employed but since my wife and I have separated it's been really hard on everyone and i need help from people who know or have pets like Loki and understand what I'm saying, and how it feels to love an animal as one of the family, as one of your own. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless for your help. The cover photo of Loki and I was taken three weeks ago near Glass Butte Oregon.
A promise, Loki will personally thank all who help him through this, as will I, and updates on all those who wish to see him through the healing process.
Thank you
Sincerely
Ryan Bell and Loki
