Lois Seguine and Family Needs Your Help

Lois went in for a routine surgery to fix a hernia on her diaphragm in mid September. A few days later she wasn't feeling well and went to the ER and learned she was septic and that the original surgery had torn and was now causing serious infection. This caused significant breathing issues and Lois needed to be placed on a ventilator and have emergency surgery to repair the tear in her diaphragm.

Since mid September Lois has been hospitalized and there have been a lot of ups and downs that I won't go into detail about and leave to the family to share what they would like to about her and their journey. Lois has been in the ICU for about a month and a half now. She has been transferred to an amazing hospital Cedars-Sinai in LA for her continued challenges and is receiving great care there. Most recently surgeons worked to get her a tracheotomy as she is still unable to breathe on her own and also a feeding tube to help with her inability to eat anything by mouth over this past month and a half. Lois and her family have had the worst and most trying time over these past 6 weeks and she has a long way to go for recovery. Currently the drs and her family are taking things one day at a time but it looks as though she will continue to be hospitalized for quite some time as her body fights to heal.

Her granddaughter Katryna, who originally stopped her job to fly out to help her grandmother heal after what she thought would be routine surgery, has been by Lois' side ever since she went back into the hospital and is providing amazing care and updates to the rest of her family. Both of Lois' daughters live in Colorado and after initially flying out in the emergency situation to be with their mom have had to come back home to be with their families and return to their jobs.

We are asking for help for Lois and her family.

First, Katryna has had to stop her job and receiving income to care for Lois so we need to raise funds to help her afford to eat, get gas, pay her bills, etc. while she is caring for Lois.

Second, as both daughters live in Colorado we need to raise some money so that they are able to afford plane tickets to regularly visit their mom, as being away during this time has been incredibly difficult.

Third, it will come as no surprise to anyone that this level of care for this long period of time plus the recovery and rehabilitation will be incredibly expensive for the family regarding medical costs. Even with health insurance and Medicare the costs of medical bills will be way more than any family should need to pay or could afford. We are asking for you to donate and help the family pay for the medical costs.
