Lois' Recovery
Lois Harrison Parris is a loving mother, wife, daughter, and talented music teacher. On July 13th, she suffered severe second-degree burns that resulted in her being rushed to not one, but two, hospitals. She has spent three days-- so far-- in the Intensive Care Burn Unit at Chapel Hill, and likely has had a mini-stroke on top of it all. While there's been talk of releasing her soon, she'll need home health care for a while, and outpatient treatments after that, including neurology follow-up, speech therapy follow-up, and physcical therapy follow-up. It is important that we move quickly in order to get the most therapy within the period of maximum neural plasticity, which is a mere 2-6 months. We're all extremely grateful that she is expected to make a full recovery, but as you might imagine, the financial ramifications of this whole affair are intimidating, to say the least. We feel so lucky that her accident wasn't any worse, and even luckier that we are surrounded by such an amazing support network that has come together to send prayers, happy thoughts, and comforting vibes to Lois in her fight for recovery. It would mean the world to our family if some of our dearest friends, family, and co-workers might be able to help us in an effort to nickel-and-dime these medical bills to death.
