Lois and Mike need your help!!
Hi, my name is Amy Simpson, and my Aunt Lois and Uncle Mike could really use your help. In December of 2020 Lois went in for a consultation for shoulder replacement. They did a CT scan to look at the shoulder and found a mass on her lung. She found out she had stage 4 lung cancer. The doctors told her if she did chemo, she would have 1-2 years left to live. She decided to go with the chemo. in January of 2021 Lois found out she had breast cancer on top of having lung cancer. She started the chemo right away in January.
Fast forward to April 2021, Lois became very sick with Covid. The doctors told us she probably wasn’t going to make it. They didn’t know how much of a fighter she was because she did make it!! After a 10 day stay at North Memorial hospital and 1 month in a rehabilitation center, Lois was back home and back to doing her chemotherapy.
More bad news came in May of 2021. Lois found out she had a small mass on her brain. The doctors acted fast and in June of 2021 they removed the mass doing the cyber knife procedure.
This past week, Lois went back for a pet-scan and was informed that the mass on her lungs was growing, the chemo was no longer working, and there was nothing more they could do for her. Lois was told by the doctors to get everything in order because she only has 2-6 months left to live.
Lois and her beloved husband Mike are heartbroken. They have chosen to do hospice at their home where they can spend as much time together as possible. Insurance covers some, but not all of this expense. He will need to hire help in order to be able to take care of her. Mike has FMLA but he has zero vacation or personal time left. FMLA allows you to keep your job, but it does not pay the bills. The amount of medical expenses, co-pays, prescriptions, and care for Lois is too much for Mike to handle on his own.
Lois is strong in her faith. She is at peace, but she has one final wish. To spend as much time with her husband as possible. Let’s help give her that wish and raise money to offset these medical expenses and allow Mike to be able to stay home and be by her side during her last months. This is not going to be easy.
Finally and most importantly, please remember Lois and Mike in your prayers! Thank you in advance for supporting my dear Aunt Lois!!!
