Help Loida get the physical therapy she needs. Loida's daily prayer is to be able to move on with her life.
On December 22, 2023, Loida was admitted to the ER due to a very serious double pneumonia and extremely low oxygen level. Loida was medically induced into a coma in efforts to save her life. After a few days of no change, she was transferred to a bigger hospital where she entered an intensive unit of care, ECMO. She spent 30 days in that unit. During that time, she suffered multiple strokes, too many to count according to the doctor, at least eight strokes. Things were not looking good for her. She was not expected to live, and if she made it through, her life would be dependent on a ventilator, her memory and vision would be gone. Against all odds, my family, friends, and church put our faith in God. We never gave up, and for almost 4 months, we all stayed by her side waiting for her to come back. Every single time we were told to turn her off, we gained more faith. Around April 1, 2024, while talking to the doctor about where she would be transferred for long-term care because we couldn’t care for her at home due to her being on a ventilator, the doctor was giving us choices of different facilities. Right after the doctor left the room, my mom began to cry. In that moment after 4 long months, my sister woke up to the real world. She asked mom why she was crying; she recognized the entire family. About a week later, she was breathing on her own and was able to come home to her children and family. This 2024 has been a rocky road with insurance, and unfortunately, Loida has not been able to get the therapy that she so much needs to hopefully be able to move around and be that mommy that her kids need. Please, if you know Loida, myself, or my family, and if you're able to help with her recovery, please do so. It took a long time and prayer to make the decision to make this account. I finally decided to do it for her and her kids because it's not easy to ask.
There is no amount too small, everything helps, and may God bless you three times more.
Sincerely,
Anahi
A loving big sister
