Linda and Daryl Lohmeyer, parents of James, are currently facing some challenging times in their lives. Some of you might know that Linda, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL-a slow, growth leukemia) 8 1/2 years ago. She’s been monitored, watching her blood test & symptoms all these years. Over the past few months it has become evident that the possibility of needing to start treatment was nearing. So, on November 1st, Linda started chemotherapy. It's a focused treatment specifically used for CLL that has a 90% rate of remission for 3+ years (with more options available). The treatment will be for 2 days than 28 days off and continue for 6 sessions (6 months). The major side effects are fatigue & compromised immune system.
At their wedding, this scripture from Jeremiah 29:11 was read, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This verse is just as important today as it was 13 years ago.
They have been praying for God's plan in the midst of all of this. It is also an even more challenging time while Daryl’s ministry job ended in August due to finances and he is working/looking for interim jobs as he waits where God is calling him for his next job in ministry. They are at peace & have hope that this is His timing for Linda’s health and their family situation.
Yet, the details and costs of everyday life are building up around them. Paying for health insurance, mounting medical bills, rent, food and childcare are overwhelming issues in the midst of trying to stay centered and focused on fighting leukemia, staying healthy and finding work.
As a community of friends and family we would like to surround them with love and support and provide the resources that can allow them the space to heal.
We would also know the Lohmeyers would love to have cards, words of encouragment or thoughtful things to help them know they are in your thoughts and prayers. These can be posted below or sent to: [email redacted]
