Our 8 year old son, Logan, was diagnosed in December of 2021 with a Telomere Biology Disorder leading to Bone Marrow Failure. He will be receiving a Bone Marrow Transplant at BC Children's in late June of 2022.

This is a condition that affects 1 in a million people! We knew Logan was special but didn't realize just how special he really is.

People who have the Telomere mutation on their genes are impacted by several medical conditions which one of them is bone marrow failure. Logan's bone marrow only produces 10% of the blood that a "normal" person produces. This can lead to dangerous bleeding out without the ability to clot, excessive bruises and low immune system. We are currently under the care of the AMAZING team at BC Children's Hospital (Oncology/Hematology) unit. Their kindness and care have been overwhelming and so needed.

We have a long road ahead of us in recovery, there will be chemotherapy, the bone marrow transplant and then 4 to 6 weeks of recovery at the hospital where Logan will be in isolation with only his immediate family to entertain him. Then we will be at home (homeschooling) for approximately 10 months as Logan will be severely immune compromised and will not be able to see his friends (and the grown ups won't be able to either).

We are so lucky to have so many friends and family who are wanting to help us during this hard time in our family's lives. We've thought long and hard about the best way we can be helped and because of Logan's complex recovery needs a Go Fund Me fundraiser is the best avenue for us. Unfortunately due to food safety concerns and Logan's health we can not accept meals, flowers or any gifts at this time.

How can you help our family?

A donation would be so appreciated! Here is how your donations will be used:

For the adults:
- Gas cards for our family to get to and from BC Children's Hospital
- Funds for Logan's grandparents to park at the hospital
- Coverage of some of the wages lost for Mike and Melissa (they will be on EI which only covers 55% of wages)
- Coverage of costs for counselling for our family
- Funds for food and hot beverages while we are at the hospital (Mike, Jane, Lyne and Melissa have to supply their own food)

For our sweet boy:
- Snacks for Logan (he can only have prepackaged vegan snacks)
- New books for Logan (he can only have new books, no used books, everything has to be new)
- Extra clothing for Logan (his pajamas have to be washed and change every day sometimes multiple times)
- New toys and video games for Logan to keep him entertained in the hospital and at home
- Funds to pay for tutors when we are out of the hospital
- Funds to pay for online music lessons or Outschool (anything to keep him from being bored)

$25 gas card covers approximately ONE trip to and from the hospital

$500 tutor and online classes for Logan for a month
$1000 coverage of lost wages for Mike and Melissa ($500 each per week)
