Keep Logan Walking-A fight for recovery

Kia Ora/Kia Orana family and friends,

Our hearts are heavy as we share Logan’s journey—a journey filled with pain, resilience, and hope.

On July 13, 2024, what was meant to be a joyful fishing trip turned into a life-altering tragedy. At 5 AM, Logan and his family set out, filled with excitement. Just minutes later, an unexpected rogue wave struck their boat, sending Logan airborne. He landed with devastating force, instantly feeling something was terribly wrong. He could barely move his legs.

Racing against time, his family rushed him to shore, and emergency services took him straight to Royal Perth Hospital. The diagnosis was heartbreaking—his L1 vertebra had shattered into four pieces. Without immediate surgery, he would have been permanently paralyzed from the waist down.

That was just the beginning of a long and painful fight.

Logan endured grueling spinal surgery, months of hospital stays, and home recovery. Just when we thought the worst was behind us, he faced another blow—his left shoulder, dislocated in the accident, also needed surgery. Late August came another operation, another round of hospital stays, and another battle to regain strength.

Through sheer determination, Logan worked tirelessly through physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, defying the odds. But today, we received news that shattered us all over again. Logan now needs another major surgery—this time on both his back and shoulder. Doctors will need to operate on his spine through both his stomach and back.

We never imagined we’d be in this position, but we have no choice but to ask for help. As non-Australian citizens, we don’t qualify for government assistance—no benefits, no Centrelink, no financial aid. Since the accident, I’ve had to step away from work to care for Logan, leaving us without any income.

For months, we hesitated to ask for support. Pride held us back. But the reality is, we can’t do this alone.

Right now, we are overwhelmed, emotionally and financially. We are praying for the best outcome, but we can’t fight this battle without our village.

If you can donate—no matter how small—you’ll be giving Logan the chance to heal, to fight, to regain the life that was stolen from him that morning on the water. And if you can’t donate, a simple share of this post could reach someone who can.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us.

With love and gratitude,

Suz & Logz
