Logan's FES Bike
We are trying to raise funds to purchase an FES Bike for Logan. He was using one in his rehab but is not able to go to rehab at West Florida any longer. So, we are asking for help to raise money to purchase one for him at home.
So what is the FES Bike?? Functional electrical stimulation (FES) applies small electrical pulses to paralyzed muscles to restore or improve their function.
FES is commonly used for exercise, but also to assist with breathing, grasping, transferring, standing and walking. It can also lead to improved bladder and bowel function. There's even evidence that FES may reduce the frequency of pressure sores and urinary tract infections.
The cost for this bike is around $15K.
About Logan - a few years ago this beautiful boy lost his father. He has endured, grown up and is an amazing young man. He is a man of God with strong faith, loves his mother dearly and is a patriot and had goals of serving his country in the military having spent all of his high school years in NJROTC getting prepared.
On April 19, 2014 he was attending an end of year high-school ROTC function at Blackwater River near Pace, FL when he jumped in and broke his neck at the C4 Vertebra leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
