
Logan's Path to University of Tokyo Awaits

This is Logan Woods! He is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. Logan is a 16 year old high school student at Douglas High School in Box Elder, SD. He is ending his junior year. Logan has once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Tokyo, Japan to learn the language and study abroad for the summer of 2025. Logan has a dream of attending the University of Tokyo obtain a master’s degree in Astrophysics. When Logan was in the 7th grade he started to self teach and learn the Japanese language, however, self learning only goes so far! He now has an awesome opportunity to attend Language School in Tokyo to learn the language and culture!
Logan is an exceptional student! He has been on the honor roll all years of high school. He is currently taking the highest classes available to him at his high school. He is also enrolled in dual enrollment college courses. Logan has been student council president every year since 8th grade and also the regional student council president his sophomore year. Logan has dedicated hours upon hours of community service. Logan was inducted into the National Honor Society Association in 2024.
Logan is very self driven and shown this by self teaching himself Japanese and guitar. Logan has helped start a rock band at his high school. He is heavily involved in drama, choir, jazz band and rock band. Logan was the high school mascot and would consistently show up for events and high school reunions. Logan has lettered in theater been part State One Acts and State Choir. Logan is the type of child that if he puts his mind to it he’s going to succeed, no matter what the obstacle is.
Logan has worked so very hard to get where he is, all while serving his community! Let’s help make his dreams come true!
