Logan’s Fundraiser for CDH UK & Impact Family Services.
Donation protected
Hi my name is Logan, I’m 6 years old and I’m raising money for two charities close to my family by running in the mini great north run on September 6th 2025.
CDH UK is a charity to raise awareness and help families of babies born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. ‘Congenital’ means born with , ‘Diaphragmatic’ means of or affecting the diaphragm (which is a thin sheet of muscle that helps us to breath and keeps our chest and stomach contents separate), ‘Hernia’ is a general term used to describe a ‘bulge’ or ‘protrusion’ of an organ (for example the stomach), through the structure or muscle that usually contains it.
CDH occurs in approximately 1 in 2500 births and accounts for around 8% of all major congenital abnormalities.
My big sister, Lucy was born with CDH. She had 50% chance of survival and once born, she required ECMO. She required lots of operations when she was a baby and she had an incredibly hard start. Thankfully, she started to pull through and is now healthy. She has just started senior school!
Impact Family Services is a local charity that helps people of South Tyneside who have been affected by domestic abuse. Impact Family Services has been supporting families for almost 40 years! They work with children and adults to improve their lives after going through conflict and domestic abuse. Their aim is to promote behavioural change to reduce the impact of abuse and conflict on both children and adults. My mum has been through domestic abuse and is currently working with Impact Family Services to deal with her past trauma.
