This fundraiser is for 13 year old Logan Heller of Cleves, Ohio. Logan is a happy-go-lucky student and athlete. He loves animals, playing baseball, video games, bowling, and spending time laughing and joking with family and friends. In November of 2015, Logan was diagnosed with a rare childhood brain tumor called Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma as well as several cysts on his brain stem.
In the months leading up to this devastating diagnosis, Logan began experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headaches and balance problems. After he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy in September of 2015, Logan
and his family thought they had the answer to what was causing his symptoms, however, his symptoms persisted even after his appendix was removed. His brain tumor was diagnosed a few weeks later.
The week of Thanksgiving 2015, Logan underwent surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. While his neurosurgeon was able to remove part of the tumor, a portion of the tumor had grown in to Logan's brain stem, rendering it inoperable and leaving radiation as the only option to shrink the tumor. After recovering from his brain surgery, on January 5, 2016, Logan underwent the first of 28 radiation sessions to stop the growth of the remaining tumor in his brain stem. He completed his treatments just a few weeks ago, on February 12, 2016.
Logan is now in physical therapy, fighting to reestablish his strength and coordination. He recently began going back to school 3 days a week and looks forward to starting sports again and getting back to doing the things he loves to do in good health.
This fund has been established to provide financial support in light of the immense medical expenses incurred throughout Logan's diagnosis and treatment. Please help support this kind and hardworking family and rally behind a very strong and special young man, our friend Logan Heller. Your support and encouragement are so much appreciated.
