Hi, my name is Cassey,Logan’s mom.
On April 20, 2023, life changed forever. While getting ready for school, my 12-year-old son Logan suffered a pediatric stroke leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. The doctors tell us this is very rare in children and cannot provide an explanation as to how or why this happened. Though the stroke has left him paralyzed it did not affect Logan’s brain function and communication skills. I am grateful that I can still speak with him.

Logan loves the outdoors and playing sports. He was a very active boy who enjoyed working out, swimming, football, basketball, boxing and just doing anything outdoors. Despite the doctors’ prognosis regarding his recovery, Logan has regained some feeling and sensation to his legs, feet, shoulders, and hands. However, he has not regained any sensation to his arms or diaphragm. Logan has five hours of rigorous physical therapy, six days per week.

Logan is currently at Kennedy Krieger but is scheduled to be discharged on August 8th. In preparation for his discharge, my house must be renovated to make it handicap accessible (ADA Compliant). The approximate cost of the renovations is $60,000.00-$80,000.00. To assist with these costs, I have been looking into grants, but the vast majority are allocated for senior citizens and not disabled children. Regarding the renovations, I will do what I can as funds permit. The more urgent need is transportation.

I need to purchase a vehicle that will accommodate Logan’s condition and will allow me to take him to physical therapy and doctor’s appointments. A brand-new vehicle costs roughly $60,000.00. A used one costs $40,000.00. I am going to sell my vehicle and will receive approximately $4,000.00. We are looking to fund $36,000.00 to assist with the purchase of a vehicle.

As a result of this unfortunate event, I am on leave without pay . I am on FMLA until September 12th. I have used all my savings to keep up with the mortgage and bills. To raise funds, I am selling #LoganStrong t-shirts and held a quarter-auction to raise funds. To date, we have raised approximately $2,500.00.

Logan is a fighter, and his faith is strong. Most days he is upbeat, optimistic, and cheerful. He has an exceptional spirit and a strong mindset. We understand this is an uphill battle and that is just the beginning.

Please know that any donation is greatly appreciated. Logan and I cannot thank you enough. If you cannot afford to donate, please pray for a speedy recovery for Logan.

Warmest regards.

Cassey
