Dearest Friends, Family, and Community, ❤️
It is with a heavy heart I received a call from my best friend Chelsea Lafuente from my hometown of Victoria, Texas... Her oldest son Logan passed away in his sleep on July 6th, 2020. They suspect it could be from Covid, but will not have anything more conclusive for at least a couple of weeks. His only symptom was chest pain.
I wanted to create this memorial fund for this sweet boy who will forever be imprinted in my memory as such a gentle, kind, and sweet soul. Logan was always smiling, and he had that incredible well-mannered Texas politeness (he was always saying yes ma'am to me which just made me belly laugh).
Chelsea, his mother, is my best friend back home in Victoria, Texas. Even though I live in Germany she is still so incredibly close to my heart and soul.
This is incredibly vulnerable and heart-wrenching for me to share...
After living in NY for 10 years I moved back home to Victoria where I battled a serious and deep depression. Chelsea was my guardian angel during that time. I write this through tears because I am not sure I would be here today if it weren't for her love and support during the hardest time of my life.
I want to honor her, her strength, and her beautiful family in the best way I know how during this tragic time.
On top of her loss of sweet Logan,
Chelsea is moving from Victoria to Goliad this week, planning the funeral, and staying strong for her 3 younger children (Brodie, Pyper, & Nicolette). This is a heavy heavy week for her.
To my dearest sister Chelsea, you saved me when I was at my darkest hour, I hope I can be there for you even a fraction of what you did for me. To the strong mom I watched doing it all on her own for years. Never blinking an eye to get down, always forging forward and being an example of strength and resilience for your kids. I honor you in your pain, in your darkest hour, with this hole in your heart. Sending you all of my love. ❤️
Family and Friends, it would be so deeply appreciated if you could contribute to Logan's Memorial Fund to help out this precious family with expenses. Any amount no matter how big or small means so incredibly much.
"The true measure of our humanity is how we help those in need in their darkest hour."
Thank you for your Love, Prayers and Contributions.
With All my Love,
Katherine Bates ❤️
