Logan Flood Relief: Dry The Bees

Story

My brother Daneel is a 23 year old beekeeper. He has his own business, and produces pure, raw honey from the Cedar Creek/Tamborine area in Logan Shire, QLD. He's been working hard at expanding his hives, but last week, his business was decimated by the massive flooding in the Albert river.Our parents' 10 acre property, where he kept the majority of his equipment, was completely inundated - they had to get helicoptered off their roof! Though everyone thankfully escaped unharmed, his business took a massive hit. The force of the water was so great that it carried off the 20ft shipping container where he kept all his tools and spare hives, and planted it in the middle of a neighbouring property. His honey extraction facililty, including his honey extractors, was completely destroyed. His newly purchased hives (which he was just about to fill with bees!) are now strewn all down the river, usually tangled up in the vegetation and often quite high up trees.Daneel has been collecting the debris of his equipment (with some difficulty!), but it's all covered in silt and mud, and will require extensive sterilisation if it's ever going to be suitable for food production again - and that's a pretty big IF. Even if it can be salvaged, he will still have lost tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment. With his honey extraction facility gone, he also has no way of making a living until he replaces all his equipment.The only bright side is that his hives full of bees were thankfully all placed on other properties, so the bees themselves survived!Daneel is a dedicated, hard-working young person who is utterly passionate about what he does. He puts his heart and soul into his bees every single day, and it's unbelievably upsetting that after all his hard work, he has been dealt such a hard blow and might lose it all. That's why I decided to make this campaign to try and raise enough money to help him replace his equipment (honey extractors, an extraction facility, hive boxes, frames, excluder boards, etc), and keep him and his bees going while he gets back on his feet! All the funds raised will go directly to Daneel and his bees, and anything you can spare would be hugely appreciated.
