Hello, my name is Eric Sopp, and I'm CEO of Usability Dynamics - a Veteran Owned Small Business (VSOB) headquartered in Durham, North Carolina.
Over the past ten years, we've had an office located in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and currently employ seven full-time people at this location. The war waged by Russia has affected our team and their families profoundly.
At this very moment, we are supporting our team's efforts to evacuate Kharkiv and assisting their families with safe passage into Poland. The situation is fluid and changing daily, but a constant requirement is a safe place to stay - in Western Ukraine and Poland.
The number of people we are supporting is growing. As the war prolongs and worsens, extended family and friends are joining the journey from Eastern Ukraine to Western Ukraine and into Poland. We want to help.
We have two of our team members in Poland now, and they are helping to find lodging and comfort for the fleeing families. While the men must now remain in Ukraine, we are securing housing for them in Western Ukraine while assisting the women, children, and elderly in finding a safe and connected place to stay in Poland.
Ultimately, our goal is to help our employees and their immediate families obtain visas for the United States.
At this time, Usability Dynamics has been paying for lodging and expenses for our team members and their families. With our Ukrainian team unable to work, our ability to generate revenue has been significantly reduced.
In addition, many of our clients and partners have reached out asking for ways to support this tragic event. In response, we have launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to directly support our efforts to evacuate families and bring them to the United States.
The total needed funds are unknown. However, we can say that 5,000 USD is what it takes to house one family of five adults and five children in Poznań, Poland, for one month. This amount covers the first month's rent, security deposit, and the real estate agent fee.
These people's lives have been completely upended. They have left everything behind, but we won't leave them behind.
Please join us in our effort.
