We'd be so grateful for your support in helping us bring it to life.
In the past four years of working together, we've had some extraordinary experiences:
* Writing for cabaret, from writing new songs for Janie Dee to sing at the Globe Theatre, to witnessing one of our songs being sung at the Queen's 90th Birthday Celebration Gala
* Writing short musicals for the St James Theatre & HighTide, and developing work at the Criterion Theatre and Old Vic Workrooms
* Recording and releasing our debut album 'Christmas in the City' (thanks of lots of generous support from the wonderful folks in our community
But now we're taking the leap of creating our first full length show!
About VAULT Festival
VAULT is London's biggest and boldest arts festival, and a hotbed of exciting work from developing artists. Last year, the festival welcomed over 50,000 visitors - and this year is going to be even bigger.
We've got a week-long slot (from 14-18 March) which is a huge accomplishment given how competitive applications have become.
About The Show
This is an idea we've been developing over the past few years, before we finally got the opportunity to bring it to life.
LOCK & KEY is a thriller/horror musical for two women that revolves around an abusive workplace relationship between a boss and her assistant. (We like to describe it as 'Devil Wears Prada' meets David Lynch - funny, dark, and definitely unexpected!)
One night, alone in the eerie office, Jess can’t resist the temptation of peering into Samantha’s secret files. After making a grisly discovery, Jess must choose how much she is willing to sacrifice in the name of ‘success’.
Brimming with twisted dark humour, LOCK AND KEY is a workplace thriller for audiences all too aware of the painful demands of modern career success - and the cost of being a woman determined to succeed.
Barlow & Smith will of course be writing the show!
Adam Lenson - the go-to person for new musical theatre in London and host of Dischord Podcast - will be helping us bring the show to life as Director.
Tamara Saringer will be bringing her vast experience (working in the UK and internationally) as Music Director.
Alice Simonato, an up and coming theatre Designer will be putting together our set and costumes.
Rebecca Pitt has done our amazing graphic design work and posters.
Matthew Keeler, newly appointed Festivals Programmer and Producer for Underbelly has provided us with producing support.
On top of this, we'll also be working with two actors, three musicians, sound and lighting designers, a PR person - and a whole host of friends and creatives who have lent their support and expertise.
(We've also received amazing support from the Old Diorama Arts Studios as part of their Associate Artist Programme - really chuffed to be involved with this!)
What your support will do
This project has been our major focus for the past six months and we've been working hard on our fundraising, but we need some support to push us over the threshold!
This project really is a labour of love for everyone involved (the team is being so generous with their time and creativity!) and our budget is designed to reflect this. However, there are certain fees and expenses we can't get around. (For example, a set, or basic fees for key people on the team!)
Our full budget runs to several thousand pounds - we're just raising funds to fill the gap between how much we've already raised and how much we're going to need to finish the show in its most basic setting.
We are really grateful for however much you can chip in to help us create this show, and the more funds we can raise to support it, the better LOCK & KEY will be!
Thanks so much for supporting us - we can't wait to share the show with you!
